An old-fashioned holiday celebration will take place in downtown Forest Grove on Saturday, December 1.  With an expanded format, the day long Holiday in the Grove event  kicks off with Breakfast with Santa at 8:30 am.  Over 20 activities during the day provide “something for everyone” and continues into the evening with the Holiday Light Parade at 5:00 pm and a Holiday Concert by the Pacific University Music Department at 7:30 pm.

New for 2012 are the sale of Forest Grove ornaments hand painted by a local artist and fresh wreaths.  Other highlights on Saturday include Artisans in the Grove Holiday Market, a holiday concert by The Westside Singers, hay rides, multiple free art projects for the kids, Gingerbread House Contest, carolers from the Forest Grove High School and visits from Santa.  Additional events will be held the evening before (November 30th) and on December First Wednesday evening, December 5th including a visit by Santa at Connie’s Corner Café, wine tasting and retailer specials.

There will also be several options to make charitable donations. The 3 pm Westside Singers concert at the United Church of Christ is a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.  In addition, 1910 Main~ An American Bistro will host a giving tree for the Forest Grove Family Resource Center and there will be collection boxes at several places downtown for the Forest Grove Firefighters Annual Toy Drive and for food donations for the Oregon Food Bank.

Favorite returning events to the Holiday in the Grove include photos with Santa at Barnes and Noble University Bookstore, the Elf Workshop at Valley Art, the Gingerbread House Contest sponsored by Pacific Insurance Partners and displayed at the News Times and the Coloring Book Contest sponsored by Bank of the West and located at Connie’s Corner Cafe.

The Annual Holiday Light Parade, sponsored by FG Light & Power and City Club of Forest Grove will begin at 5:00 PM on Main Street and feature dozens of floats, marchers and vehicles decorated in holiday lights.

The Holiday in the Grove event is organized by the City Club of Forest Grove. For more information and individual event specifics visit the City Club website.
